EMDR for stress reduction

EMDR is a fast and effective method to change stressful memory contents and inner beliefs, to anchor resources and to stabilize the psyche. Especially in cases of mental overload after traumatic experiences such as separations, abuse, accidents, serious illness or sudden death. Likewise with chronic pain, fears or compulsions. About half of all people in our society experience one or more such traumatic events at least once in their lives.

EMDR was developed in the 1980s by the American psychologist Francine Shapiro and is internationally recognized as a treatment method. EMDR is the abbreviation for "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing". Shapiro discovered the relieving effect of eye movements and developed a structured method to activate the natural processing mechanisms of the human brain and to use it for stress reduction in trauma therapy.

In the safe environment of counseling, I first support you in finding, building and strengthening your own resources so that you feel stable and safe again in your everyday life. In a next step, working through the active memory of the trauma can end the cycle of defense and avoidance. As you recall the event and the associated sensations, I perform bilateral stimulation of your eyes (alternating right and left), decoupling your memories from the frightening emotions.

After an EMDR session, the brain can sort the difficult situations into the memory like a normal memory. The physical arousal decreases and you can deal with the experience without any problems. In this way you gain a new quality of life.

In the case of lighter issues, 2 sessions at intervals of one week are often sufficient to bring about changes; in the case of more serious issues, several sessions in a row are necessary.

First Session: 90 – 120 minutes | Costs: 210 - 280 CHF
Follow-up Sessions: 60 minutes | Costs: 140 CHF

Since it is impossible to predict exactly how long the process will take, I plan 120 minutes for you. If we need less time, you only pay for the time needed.
